Exercise 3: Contour Sketching

The most fundamental element to creating sketches is the line or the outline of an object. The lines or outlines of an object are used to represent the edges and contours of objects we see in the world. If we sketch the boundaries, an object slowly takes shape and we begin to recognise it as a familiar object. This technique of sketching the outline of an object is called contour sketching and is an important technique used by novice sketchers to gain confidence in their sketching ability.
